With the right products and know-how, you can get your uPVC, PVC and Aluclad window frames looking as good as new. If your windows feel a bit dated or are looking a little worse for wear, a simple lick of paint can do wonders. We have seen major transformations from a dull, weather-worn white to the ever-popular anthracite grey (RAL 7016). For a step-by-step guide on uPVC, PVC and Aluclad window frames, read our dedicated guide "How to Paint uPVC Trim, Doors & Window Frames."

For a subtle colour pop, you could paint your interior or exterior window reveal in an accent colour. For an elegant look that seamlessly ties in with the rest of the colour scheme, go for a colour that is several shades lighter or darker than the main walls. Alternatively, you could go for a bold, contrasting colour that pops against the overall colour scheme.
When painting their new offices, Cork Pride painted their window reveals in the same colour of the frames to give the impression of larger windows.
Freshly painted interior windowsills can give a room a more polished look and create a lovely fresh surface on which you can place your ornaments. Before painting, make sure that the surface is as clean as possible. Sand down the sill and apply a suitable filler such as the Prestonett Interior Wood Filler to repair minor imperfections (e.g. holes, cracks etc.). If your window sills have never been painted before, then you can then spot prime any knots with Ray’s Primer and then prime the rest of the surface with Ralston Aqua All-Primer. You can then finish off with a topcoat of Ralston Aqua in your preferred finish (matt, semi-matt, satin, gloss).
After years of exposure to the Irish rain and sun, your window sills may become dirty, mouldy and blackened. You may also find that the paintwork has cracked and peeled. While cleaning and repainting your windowsills may seem like a small job, it is one that will have a major impact on your home's exterior.
To restore your windows to their former glory, start by washing them down with Farbex Exterior Fungicidal Wash to remove any dirt and mould on the window sill. Once dry, scrape away any old, flaking paint. If a primer is needed, you can apply Farbex Alkali-Resisting Paint and then paint two coats of Dulux Weathershield in the colour of your choice.
Top Tip: It’s important to use an exterior masonry paint on your window sills to protect them from the elements.
When repainting this house's exterior, JK Painting & Decorating started by power washing it with Farbex Exterior Fungicidal Wash. They then primed and repainted the walls and windowsills.
